Monetization Flexibility

This page explains how OGAL-enabled platforms retain full control over monetization, pricing, and business models while optionally enabling composable revenue sharing through OPP.

OGAL is deliberately monetization-neutral.

Core Principle​

OGAL defines ownership and provenance, not how money moves.

Platforms decide:

  • What is monetized
  • When monetization applies
  • How pricing works
  • Who pays
  • Who earns
  • How value is surfaced to users

Nothing in OGAL forces monetization.

Separation of Concerns​

OGAL and OPP exist to decouple value definition from value capture.

  • OGAL defines who owns an asset and who may update it
  • OPP optionally defines how packaged value is monetized
  • Platforms define UX, pricing strategy, and enforcement

This separation preserves flexibility at every layer.

Monetization Without OPP​

Platforms may monetize OGAL assets without using OPP at all.

Common examples:

  • Subscriptions that unlock OGAL-owned content
  • Platform-native marketplaces
  • Advertising-supported access
  • Premium creator programs
  • Enterprise licensing

In these cases:

  • OGAL remains a verification layer
  • Monetization logic remains entirely platform-defined
  • No protocol fees apply

This is the default posture.

When OPP Is Used​

OPP is used only when composed assets create new value.

Examples:

  • Bundled UGC packs
  • Cross-creator collaborations
  • Reusable templates or modules
  • Executable experiences built from multiple assets

OPP makes revenue intent explicit and auditable.

OPP Monetization Characteristics​

When a platform chooses to support OPP:

  • Monetization is opt-in
  • Pricing models are declared per package
  • Revenue splits are machine-readable
  • Enforcement is deterministic
  • Royalties flow only on usage

Base assets remain reusable outside OPPs.

Supported Pricing Models​

OPP supports declaration of:

  • One-time usage
  • Time-bound access
  • Recurring usage
  • Subscription-style consumption

Platforms map these declarations into their own billing systems.

OPP does not process payments.

Platform-Controlled Enforcement​

Platforms remain responsible for:

  • Payment collection
  • Refund logic
  • Dispute resolution
  • Compliance
  • Tax handling
  • User communication

OPP provides verifiable intent, not policy enforcement.

Free Reuse Is Always Allowed​

Key guarantee:

  • Assets registered in OGAL can be reused freely
  • Monetization only applies when additional value is created
  • Visibility and adoption are never taxed

This prevents ecosystem stagnation.

Creator Choice​

Creators may:

  • Allow free reuse only
  • Opt into revenue sharing
  • Participate in specific packages
  • Decline monetization entirely

No creator is forced into a revenue model.

Enterprise Compatibility​

For enterprise and regulated platforms:

  • OPP declarations can be ignored
  • OGAL used purely for provenance
  • Revenue handled through contracts
  • Compliance remains off-chain

OGAL fits conservative environments.
