Migration & Adoption Strategy

This page explains how platforms adopt OGAL incrementally, without disruption, rewrites, or forced migration events.

OGAL is designed for progressive adoption, not all-at-once transitions.

Core Adoption Principle

Platforms should never be forced to:

  • Migrate all assets at once
  • Rebuild existing content pipelines
  • Change business models
  • Expose wallets to users prematurely
  • Break backwards compatibility

OGAL adoption happens alongside existing systems.

Adoption Phases

Phase 1: Passive Verification

Goal: Gain ownership clarity without changing workflows.

What you do:

  • Read OGAL manifests
  • Verify asset ownership and provenance
  • Use OGAL as a source of truth for permissions

What you do not do:

  • Mint assets
  • Require wallets
  • Change UX

This phase builds confidence and internal alignment.

Phase 2: New Content Uses OGAL

Goal: Stop creating new lock-in.

What you do:

  • New assets are registered with OGAL
  • Existing assets remain unchanged
  • Creation tools optionally integrate minting

What you gain:

  • Forward-compatible ownership
  • Clean provenance for new content
  • Zero disruption to legacy content

This is the most common starting point.

Phase 3: Selective Backfill (Optional)

Goal: Bring high-value legacy assets into OGAL.

Options:

  • Curated re-mints of top assets
  • Opt-in creator migration
  • Platform-assisted registration

Important:

  • No forced migration
  • No automatic conversion
  • Ownership only changes with explicit consent

Legacy assets can coexist indefinitely.

Phase 4: Cross-Platform Enablement

Goal: Unlock reuse and collaboration.

What changes:

  • Assets are recognized outside your platform
  • External creators can build on your content
  • Value compounds instead of fragmenting

At this point, OGAL becomes an ecosystem multiplier.

User Experience Considerations

Wallet Exposure

Wallets are optional.

Many platforms:

  • Abstract wallets entirely
  • Gate wallet usage behind advanced features
  • Introduce wallets only for creators

There is no requirement to expose cryptographic concepts to players.

Education and Onboarding

Successful platforms:

  • Introduce ownership as a benefit, not a requirement
  • Delay technical explanations
  • Focus on portability and durability

OGAL supports progressive disclosure.

Business Model Compatibility

OGAL does not dictate monetization.

You retain:

  • Pricing control
  • Revenue models
  • Subscription logic
  • Advertising systems
  • Marketplace UX

OGAL simply provides verifiable ownership when needed.

Exit Safety

If you ever stop using OGAL:

  • Assets remain valid
  • Ownership remains intact
  • No funds or assets are trapped
  • No protocol dependency remains in your stack

This makes adoption reversible and low-risk.

Common Adoption Patterns

  • New UGC features launch OGAL-native
  • Premium creators opt into ownership first
  • Internal tools adopt OGAL before public exposure
  • Cross-platform pilots precede public rollout

One-Sentence Summary

Platforms adopt OGAL gradually, starting with verification, expanding to new content, and enabling reuse only when it creates clear value—without rewrites, lock-in, or forced migrations.
