Players FAQ

A quick set of answers to the most common player questions.

Do I need a wallet to play or use OGAL assets?

No. Reading or using OGAL assets does not require a wallet.

A wallet is only needed if you are a creator who wants to mint or register assets and pay the network fee. Players can play.

Can Open UGC recover my wallet or items if I lose access?

No. Open UGC systems are designed so you control your wallet. That means:

  • There is no central “reset password” button.
  • Recovery depends on the wallet you chose (seed phrase, recovery contacts, hardware wallet, etc.).
  • If you lose access and have no recovery method, assets cannot be restored.

Expectation: choose a wallet with recovery options you trust and keep backups safe.

How do I verify I own an item?

Ownership is verifiable through:

  • A wallet address that holds the asset
  • Public records that show the asset and its history
  • A game or marketplace that can prove the item is yours

If a game cannot show ownership or provenance, treat it like a normal in-game item.

Does ownership mean I can use it everywhere?

Not automatically.

Portability depends on:

  • Whether other games choose to support the asset
  • The format and permissions attached to the item
  • Technical limits (size, performance, compatibility)

Ownership means you can carry the item. Portability means others choose to accept it.

How do I avoid scams or fake items?

Use the same habits you would for any valuable digital item:

  • Only connect wallets to official sites
  • Check verified links from the game or platform
  • Be skeptical of “limited time” pressure
  • Avoid DM offers or unsolicited airdrops

If a claim sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Where should I go for support?

Start with the game or platform you’re using. They control:

  • Your account access
  • Item visibility in-game
  • Moderation and enforcement

If the issue is wallet-related, contact your wallet provider. Open UGC itself does not run customer support.
