Safety & Trust
Open systems must be safer, not riskier.
This is a core design requirement.
What Safety Means Here
Safety does not mean “nothing can go wrong.” It means risks are visible and bounded.
Open UGC systems aim to:
- Make rules explicit
- Reduce hidden changes
- Limit platform overreach
What Still Belongs to Platforms
Platforms and games still control:
- Moderation
- Community rules
- Access to multiplayer spaces
- Content visibility
Open UGC does not remove moderation. It removes silent, unaccountable control.
What This Protects Players From
Clear ownership and provenance reduce:
- Fake or duplicated items
- Sudden content invalidation
- Disappearing purchases with no explanation
Trust improves when:
- Rules are enforced by systems, not moods
- Changes leave visible traces
- Players are not asked to blindly trust a company
The Goal
Players should leave thinking:
- “This is safer”
- “This is fairer”
- “This respects my time and money”
That is the standard Open UGC is designed to meet.
